Home Team Advantage

In the world of sports, teams strive for home field advantage, which many believe can be a vital factor in attaining the championship.

How many games you win during a season determine home field advantage in the play offs. The importance of playing before the home crowd is that the fans generate an energy that uplifts the team.

The home team usually wins in a close contest because it claims the energy. The players know it’s for them. Their fans are the source.

True the home team fans generated the energy, however energy itself is impersonal. Energy lends itself to those that can accept it, can harness it.

What if the visiting team knew the principles of energy and tapped into it. The players could nullify the home team advantage by rising above personalization (those cheers are not for you) and use the energy generated by the opponent’s fans.

Fans generate energy, but they can’t control energy’s behavior. They can’t stop it from uplifting their opponents. Only the players’ mindset, believing they don’t have the right to access that energy, can obstruct the flow.

“…He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends his rains on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:45.

Once energy is released in the atmosphere, it blankets all. Energy just flows. It doesn’t know the difference between red jerseys and blue jerseys. Energy is just looking for a conduit.

Through the practice of Tai Chi, we become receptive to the flow of the energy, making ourselves conduits. We learn to quite limiting and disturbing thoughts and resonate with the chi. We don’t personalize, but see ourselves as part of the whole.
